Ebonshroud Enclave

Protect the weak. Punish the wicked.

(Crystal - Mateus)

About

IC: The Ebonshroud is a secretive organization of Dark Knights and those that support their cause. Originally founded in Ishgard, decades ago, by the first Knight-Speaker, and Elezen named Ostwick, and his two apprentices.
The order was founded with the intention to unite the efforts of what number of Dark Knights still remained in Ishgard; bound together by the principles that flow through each and every one of them towards a common goal. Eliminating injustices and protecting those that have been abandoned and scorned by the powers that be.
Time however proved that Ostwick was an ambitious but terrible leader. That shared dream of a united front was perverted and corrupted by selfish actions and blind ambition. Near the end of the Dragonsong War, master and apprentice battled; the former coming out the victor, and the organization laying dormant for years to come. Now, however, the order has been revived and reformed, with Loyce at the helm as Knight-Speaker he strives to keep his shared dream alive. New generations of Dark Knights must be trained. Those that still exist must be brought into the fold, and the methods of the past need to evolve in order to survive an ever changing and shifting star that is forever set against them.Amongst that goal, this new Ebonshroud strives to recruit those that are sympathetic to the Dark Knight's cause-- offering Sanctuary and purpose to all of those who would walk the path. Be it as a Knight proper, or in their own unique way.Protect the weak. Punish the wicked. The creed that binds them all together to work in the darkness against injustice. Unbound by the laws of gods and men, beholden to no politics or pleasantries of the ruling classes that govern. Both in Eorzea, and beyond.

OOC: The Ebonshroud (EE) is a smaller more tight-nit Roleplay FC with RP being the primary focus, though we also dabble in content with map runs, roulettes, and glam farming when the whimsy takes us.EE focuses more on darker themes with rp. Mystery, adventure, combat, etc with perhaps occasional dashes of slice of life as a palette cleanser. If only the latter interests you, you likely won't want to be here.EE also doubles as a roleplay community: people can join the IC organization without needing to join the FC proper or leave the one they're currently in. After all, what's a secret organization if we can't have some members hiding in plain sight? Our goal is to hopefully collaborate with various rp groups out in the wild and promote some more open-world rp. We are not strictly looking for members of any specific class or background, if you think your character will be a good fit to join, reach out to Loyce Eldrin - Mateus and we'll figure something out! All I ask is that your character and rp are somewhat lore-abiding. A little bit of lore-bending is perfectly fine! As far as recruitment as a whole goes I prefer we try to keep it all IC and organic, but we're all adults working jobs so if needed I won't mind working oocly with you to set up a scene that fits our schedules.Events are as frequent as I can manage, but not an extremely constant thing. I like to let them cook, and as a whole we value quality over quantity here.

FAQ

What are this FC's themes for rp?: We keep a wide range generally. Expectagood amount of dark/mature vigilante work complete with investigations, mystery, combat and humanitarian efforts. We are self-aware edgelords that are not afraid of comedy and everyone's character in here gets their ass beat frequently and the occasional hero moments.Mare? Lightless? Snowcloak???: While EE has some talented mod makers amongst our roster, we do not use any mod-sharing services on an FC level. Members are encouraged to match their vanilla to their crimes as best they can. Individual pairing is fine, but the moment drama is made from it people will get removed.Do I need to be a Dark Knight ICly to join?: Nope! While I'll never complain for more DRK RP, and DRKs being the main focus of EE, any type of character that is sympathetic to the goals of battling systemic injustice can join in after some IC vetting.Do I need to join the in-game Free Company to be in EE ICly?: Also no! Part of what keeps the Ebonshroud as a secret organization is hiding in plain sight. You can be within any RP group or OOC FC and still be apart of the Ebonshroud organization / RP community. We organize our RP and events via CWLS in game and an OOC discord. Is recruitment open?: Not entirely. While we're always willing to take on new people, the process involves some time and a few IC and OOC vibe checks. Unfortunately, the FF RP community has far too many tolerated bigots and creeps, and they are not people I want in my community. If someone already in EE vouches for you, the process can be a bit quicker. As of now and hopefully forever I don't plan to do any type of application forms. Can I join your Discord?: Not unless you pass the OOC vibe check, or someone vouches for you.

Hooks

Recent whispers in the dark tell of shadows new and old gathering in the cover of night and the boldness of day. Taking justice and vengeance in equal measure into their own hands. Perhaps you've heard such rumours..- Whilst the bulk of the Organization remains secretive, it's current leader has his own small reputation built from his actions as a Dark Knight. Perhaps persuing him will lead you to the others.- The Ebonshroud does not shy away from the forbidden. Many practitioners of all walks can find their way through the Enclave's door, if they've nowhere else to go.- Some have taken to backing the Ebonshroud from afar, agreeing with their goals but unwilling to get their hands dirty themselves. Perhaps a kindred spirit could be a benefactor of some sort to these weary souls.- The Ebonshroud Enclave, at day's end, is a gang of vigilantes. Criminals. Whilst some behind closed doors would cheer them on, the law does not look upon them with favour. No matter how justified it may be, they are still killers and outlaws. Perhaps you wish to bring them to 'true' justice?- Most of these rumours for the time being seem to mostly be coming from Thanalan. Perhaps it is there they are most active?- The Ebonshroud makes habit of using more criminal connections to find and collect artefacts of forbidden power and knowledge long lost.
